The Web is Boring Again

Web 2.0 is over.  That's for sure.

The glory days of innovation under the umbrella term of Web 2.0 are long gone.  Most of what can be done has already been done.

There a very few unique ideas emerging.  This was very obvious at TechCrunch50 (both Russ and I attended).

When there's nothing new or exciting emerging everyday, it gets boring.

The Web economy will continue to grow, though at a slower rate.  People will continue to buy online.  People will continue to watch porn.  People will continue to take part in their social networks.  People will continue to get served ads.

There are two options for Internet entrepreneurs right now:

(1) Find your niche (within a niche(within a niche(within a niche)))
(2) Start thinking about the next big wave of innovation on the web (making the web more intelligent)

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties that I cannot explain, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has been taken off line for testing and repairs and won't likely be back online until Spring.

However, this is the perfect time for you to discover that inner physicist within you and understand what the LHC is all about.

Some questions the LHC hopes to answer:

    • What is mass?
    • What is 96% of the universe made of?
    • Why is there no more antimatter?
    • What was matter like within the first second of the Universe's life?
    • Do extra dimensions in space really exist?

You can read more about the LHC in plain English at their website.
